Where and How to Get There
Camp Fircom
Camp Fircom is located on Gamber Island and has been a children's summer camp for a really long time.
There's a beautiful mixture of buildings from the 1940's and very new, modern west coast design.
There are cabins and cottages with a range of sizes and amenities, so there will be something that works for everyone.
Curious to see the spaces? Photo tour of the grounds!
Water Taxi
Camp Fircom is only accessible by water taxi from Horseshoe Bay. The water taxis operate from the Horseshoe Bay Public Dock, just west of the Boathouse Restaurant.
We have three private charters on Friday, September 30th
- 11:30am for family and wedding party if they want to come over early and help
- 3pm and 5pm for the rest of our guests
We'll have shuttles leaving Gambier on Sunday October 2nd starting at 10am. If you can't make any of our scheduled times, let us know and we'll put you in touch with the water taxi services. They also have regular runs throughout the day.
The cost for the weekend includes travel on one of the chartered taxis. If you have to take a different one, payment will have to made directly to the water taxi company.
Getting There
1. If you aren't there already, do whatever you need to do to get to Vancouver. Legally.
2. You will need to head to the Horseshoe Bay Public Dock for Friday, September 30th at whichever time you RSVP with.
Different ways of getting from Vancouver to Horseshoe Bay
Bus:
Take the 250 or 257 from Georgia street near Pacific Centre straight to Horseshoe Bay and walk on over to the public/government dock. It's about a 45-55 minute ride. $2.75 fare.
Get on boat.
Party.
Automobile:
If you have a lot of stuff you will need to drop your stuff off at the boat, find parking, and then walk back to the dock. Places to park include:
BC Ferries Parking Lot (this can fill up with weekend ferry traffic, give yourself enough time):
- $16-$22 per day
- 5 minute walk back
- After unloading at the dock, turn around and go straight up Nelson Avenue, drive two blocks, turn left, drive two more blocks and turn right onto Keith Road and head straight into the BC Ferries parking Garage.
Lions Tiddycove Parking Lot (6318 Marine Dr, West Vancouver)
- $10 per day Friday-Sunday.
- 15 minute walk back
- After unloading, turn around and go straight up Nelson Avenue to the roundabout at the top of the hill. Go around and left onto Marine Drive towards the highway. At the next roundabout, head right on Marine Drive. The parking lot is on the left hand side under the highway.
Car2Go
There is Car2Go parking in the Horesehoe Bay BC Ferries Parking Lot. Once you have a membership you can use one of the many cars parked around the city to get out to the ferry terminal. The Olympic Village skytrain station almost always has a few in their parking lot.
Important: Most are SmartCars, some are 4-doors. There's no guarantee that there will be cars at the terminal when we come back.
Carpool/Shuttle Bus
There are a lot of people headed out to and from the terminal at the same time! If you're interested in this and don't have a car, let us know. We'll look at arranging something.
OMG I MISSED MY BOAT!!!
That's ok! Life happens!
It's easiest if we can get most people over on the same boats, it's not a disaster if it doesn't happen. Both Mercury Transport and Cormorant Marine have lots of runs. Give them a call. Go have a drink at the Boathouse. Everything will be ok.
Just give our contact person (TBD) a call so we're not worried.
What happens then, Kyle & Sheena?
So glad you asked!
Enjoy your beautiful and majestic 20-minute boat ride.
Fircom staff will take you and your stuff in super cool golf carts from the dock to your various assigned accommodations.
We all meet up and have a wonderful weekend together!
